Outreach Worker  

For our Young People's Drug & Alcohol Service project based in Poole

The post holder will be supporting the work of the Borough of Poole’s Outreach Youth Work Team as the Young Persons’ Substance Misuse Outreach Worker.  The purpose of which is to establish and develop links with young people using substances who have little or no contact with existing services who are at risk because of their use of alcohol/drugs and associated behaviours and to give outreach support to the EDAS Young Persons Team.

The post holder must: -

  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of drugs and alcohol and the consequences of their use.
  • Have proven experience of working with young people
  • Have obtained minimum of Level 3 qualification in Youth Work, Substance Misuse or related qualification.
  • To be able to demonstrate ability to meet the above DANOS and Health & Social Care competencies.
  • Be able to respond positively and be capable of managing difficult and demanding behaviour in young people.
  • Effectively manage a 1 to 1 caseload.
  • Have the ability to deliver substance misuse education to young people (Education & Teaching Award qualification would be an advantage).
  • Possess effective communication skills, including listening.
  • Recognise the need for reliability and punctuality.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours (including a minimum of three evenings per week and some weekends) to best meet the needs of young people
  • To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Possess own transport and hold a current driving licence.

Hours: 24 hours per week to include a minimum of three evenings per week and some weekends

Salary Scale: P1 – P10 (£22027.00 - £24754.00) pro rata

All posts will be subject to a satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure.
