EDAS REACH Young People’s Keyworker

EDAS REACH requires a Young People’s Keyworker to support our Young People's Drug & Alcohol service project based in Poole.

Salary Scale: P1 – P10 £22919.00 - £25756.00 per annum pro rata            

Hours: 30 hours* per week (to include Live Chat and Digital Intervention Support) *(open to some flexibility of two x 16-hour posts)

Main area of coverage: Blandford and the North of Dorset (role may at times extend to all areas of Dorset)

Responsible to: EDAS Young People’s Services Clinical Lead

  • To be part of a team of specialist workers providing universal drug and alcohol-related preventions, targeted advice, information, and guidance to young people under the age of 24 years.
  • To deliver appropriate Clinical Interventions to young people deemed most vulnerable and at risk.
  • Support those identified as being at risk of developing problems, identified as having an emergence of a substance-using behaviour or currently in an established pattern of substance-using behaviour.
  • Act in consultancy and training role to professionals within universal and targeted teams.
  • Support transitions between young people’s and adult services for young people aged 18 – 24.

The post holder must:-

  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of drugs and alcohol and the consequences of their use.
  • Have proven experience of working with young people (qualification in youth work/addiction/social care would be an advantage)
  • To be able to demonstrate ability to meet Drug & Alcohol National Occupational Standards competency.
  • Be able to respond positively and be capable of managing difficult and demanding behaviour in young people.
  • Effectively manage a 1 to 1 caseload.
  • Have the ability to deliver substance misuse education to young people.
  • Possess good communication skills, including listening.
  • Recognise the need for reliability and punctuality.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to best meet the needs of young people.
  • To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Possess own transport and hold a current driving licence.


  • Minimum Level 3 Health & Social Care Diploma or related qualification
  • Specialising in Motivational Interviewing
  • Counselling qualification (desirable)
